Ingredients
Apple Layer:
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced

Cake Batter:
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt

Crumble Topping:
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- Optional: 2 tbsp rolled oats or chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch baking pan.
- Make the apple layer: In a bowl, toss diced apples with cinnamon, brown sugar, and lemon juice. Let sit to soften.
