- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool and then drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
For a variation, layer with cream cheese or salted caramel, or add apple bits for a fruit note. Serve warm with ice cream for an extra treat.
