Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ยฝ cups sugar
  • ยฝ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ยฝ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup crushed cookies or toffee bits
  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks.

  8. Frost the top with whipped cream and drizzle with additional caramel sauce.
  9. Serve and enjoy the show-stopping dessert!

Use room temperature eggs and butter. Do not overmix the batter. Cool cakes well before adding caramel or cream. Add the crunch just before serving for extra crispness.
