A soft and rich chocolate cake that’s easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- For frosting, combine all frosting ingredients and beat until smooth.
- Once the cakes are cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides.
Notes
Use room temperature eggs and milk for better mixing. Test the cake with a toothpick to ensure it’s done.
