Description

A hearty meal combining smoky sausage with creamy richness, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ยฝ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sautรฉ until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and sliced smoked sausage. Cook until sausage is browned, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Add heavy cream, mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  5. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Add cooked penne pasta to the skillet and toss until well coated.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of milk or broth to loosen the sauce if needed.
