- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chopped nuts (e.g., pecans or walnuts)
- 1 cup crushed cookies (e.g., graham crackers or Oreos)
- Whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and sprinkle half of the nuts and crushed cookies on top.
- Pour the remaining batter on top and repeat the layering with the rest of the caramel, nuts, and cookies.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before serving topped with whipped cream and extra caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
Use room temperature butter and eggs for better mixing. Warm caramel makes it easier to pour.
