- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup toffee bits
- Chocolate frosting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk.
- Fold in the caramel sauce and toffee bits, reserving some toffee bits for topping.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost with chocolate frosting if desired and sprinkle with remaining toffee bits.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
For a creamier take, try using whipped cream instead of chocolate frosting. Store in a sealed box to keep fresh.
