Description

A hearty dish blending jumbo pasta shells filled with a savory beef and cheese mixture, topped with marinara sauce and more cheese, then baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 12 jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain any excess fat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stuff each cooked shell with the beef mixture.
  6. Spread half of the marinara sauce in the bottom of a baking dish.
  7. Place the stuffed shells on top of the sauce and pour the remaining sauce over them.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Do not overcook shells. Drain beef well to avoid a wet filling. For best texture, use low-moisture mozzarella. Let the bake sit for 5 minutes before serving for easier cutting.
