- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Food coloring (optional for decoration)
- Halloween-themed decorations (like candy, icing, or edible bats)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Slowly pour in the boiling water while mixing. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, decorate with frosting and Halloween-themed decorations.
