Description

Delightful heart-shaped sugar cookies perfect for Valentine’s Day, easily made dairy-free and decorated with icing and sprinkles.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegan butter
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Vegan icing (optional) for decoration
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and vegan butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the almond milk and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool before decorating with vegan icing and sprinkles, if desired.

Notes

For a fresh taste, add lemon zest or cocoa powder for chocolate hearts. Chill dough if too soft, and use thin cutters for clean shapes.
