Description

Deliciously soft banana brownies with a rich chocolate note, perfect for using ripe bananas.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with the melted butter.
  3. Stir in the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Add the cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add in the flour until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow to cool before cutting into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, use very ripe bananas. Check after 18 minutes to avoid overbaking.
