- 1 pound ground beef or sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 3 cups chicken or beef broth
- 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, brown the ground beef or sausage with the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil.
- Stir in the broken lasagna noodles and simmer until the noodles are cooked, about 10 minutes.
- Before serving, stir in the ricotta cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, topped with remaining mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.
Notes
You can add red pepper flakes for extra heat or substitute the ground beef with turkey for a lighter version.
