Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Beat in the maple syrup and egg until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- Stir in the toasted pecans.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to prevent excessive spreading.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra indulgence, add ¾ cup chocolate chips to the dough.
- Drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and maple syrup once cooled for more maple flavor.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
