Description

A homemade version of Panda Express Orange Chicken that features sweet and tangy flavors, perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss chicken pieces in the mixture until well coated.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and orange zest. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Toss the fried chicken in the orange glaze until well coated.
  5. Serve garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

Dry the chicken well before coating and use fresh orange zest for the best flavor. Optionally bake at 425ยฐF for a lower oil preparation.
