Description

A delightful birthday cake perfect for any celebration, featuring layers of fluffy cake and creamy frosting.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ยฝ cups granulated sugar
  • ยฝ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 ยฝ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ยฝ tsp salt
  • 4 cups buttercream frosting
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter evenly into two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, frost one layer with buttercream, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake. Decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

For a chocolate variation, substitute ยฝ cup of flour with cocoa powder.
