Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy in another bowl.
  4. Beat in the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, then let cool.
  8. Beat the cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy for the frosting.
  9. Frost each cookie with cream cheese frosting once they are completely cool.
