- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- ยฝ teaspoon vanilla
- ยฝ teaspoon baking soda
- ยฝ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ยฝ cup sour cream
- 3 cups flour
- For the frosting:
- ยฝ cup butter (softened)
- 4 oz. cream cheese (softened)
- 3 ยฝ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and line a pan with parchment.
- In a bowl, beat 1 cup butter and 1 cup sugar until light.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing in ยฝ teaspoon vanilla.
- Stir in ยฝ cup sour cream.
- In a separate bowl, mix 3 cups flour, ยฝ teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ยฝ teaspoon salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until you have a soft dough.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough to ยผ inch thick on a floured surface.
- Cut shapes and place on the pan.
- Bake for 8โ10 minutes, until the cookies look set but remain soft.
- Let cookies cool on a rack.
- For frosting, beat ยฝ cup butter and 4 oz. cream cheese until smooth.
- Add 3 ยฝ cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Spread frosting on cooled cookies.
Notes
Store frosted cookies in a cool place, using an airtight box. They can last 3-5 days. For freezing, store plain cookies for up to 2 months.
