Description
A cozy hot drink combining rich chocolate, coffee, and a splash of peppermint with your choice of spirit.
Ingredients

- 1 cup milk (whole or plant milk)
- 1 shot espresso or 1/2 cup strong coffee
- 1 to 2 tbsp chocolate syrup
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
- 1 to 2 tbsp cocoa powder (optional)
- 1 to 1.5 oz rum, vodka, or coffee liqueur
- Whipped cream for topping
- Crushed candy cane or cocoa for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the milk in a pot or microwave until hot, but not boiling.
- Brew the espresso or make strong coffee.
- Put chocolate syrup and optional cocoa powder in a mug.
- Pour the hot coffee into the mug and stir until the chocolate melts.
- Add the peppermint extract, stir, and taste.
- Pour in the hot milk and stir.
- Add the rum or vodka and stir once more.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkle crushed candy cane on top.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, skip the spirit and add a little more chocolate. For vegan, use plant milk and dairy-free cream.
