- 1 package chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup strawberries, sliced
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Whipped cream for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour a 9ร13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until combined.
- Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Swirl the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter.
- Add sliced strawberries and dollops of strawberry jam on top or mix them into the cream cheese layer.
- Pour the remaining cake batter over the top.
- If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let it cool, and serve with whipped cream if desired.
Notes
Let the cream cheese soften for easy mixing. Ripe strawberries enhance the flavor. Chill the cake for neater slices.
