Description

A light and fluffy Swiss Roll filled with your choice of jam or cream, perfect for tea or parties.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 100 grams granulated sugar
  • 100 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
  • Filling of choice (jam, cream, chocolate ganache, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together and gently fold it into the egg mixture.
  4. Fold in the melted butter until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter onto the baking tray and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cake is golden and springs back when touched.
  7. Remove from the oven and turn the cake out onto a powdered sugar-dusted cloth.
  8. Roll the warm cake up with the cloth and let it cool.
  9. Once cooled, unroll the cake, spread your chosen filling evenly, and roll it back up.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, beat the eggs well for a light cake and fold the flour gently. Store in the fridge for 2-3 days or freeze slices for up to 1 month.
