- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Nonstick cooking spray
Instructions
- Prep the apples: Peel if desired, cut into fry-like sticks, and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Set up coating stations: In Bowl 1, add flour; in Bowl 2, whisk egg and milk; in Bowl 3, mix panko breadcrumbs, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Coat the apple sticks in flour, dip in egg mixture, then coat well with breadcrumb mixture.
- Air fry: Spray coated apple fries lightly with cooking spray and place in a single layer in the air fryer basket, working in batches if necessary.
- Cook at 380°F (190°C) for 7–9 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for even cooking.
- Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce like caramel, yogurt, or whipped cream.
Notes
For a crispier texture, ensure apple sticks are dry before coating. Try different fruits like pears or peaches for variations.
