Description
A delightful dessert combining fluffy cake layers, rich caramel, and a satisfying crunchy topping, perfect for celebrations or cozy evenings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1 cup crushed crunchy topping (like nuts or cookies)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- For assembly, place one layer on a serving plate, spread with caramel sauce and whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining layers.
- Top with the crushed crunchy topping and drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top.
- Serve and enjoy!
