Description

A delightful dessert combining fluffy cake layers, rich caramel, and a satisfying crunchy topping, perfect for celebrations or cozy evenings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1 cup crushed crunchy topping (like nuts or cookies)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the egg mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For assembly, place one layer on a serving plate, spread with caramel sauce and whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining layers.
  8. Top with the crushed crunchy topping and drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better blending. Experiment with different toppings to find your favorite mix.
