Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp instant espresso powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set it aside.
  3. Beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and smooth in another bowl.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and instant espresso powder. Mix until well combined.
  5. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gradually until fully blended.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft. Let cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or coffee; they pair excellently with vanilla ice cream.
