- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot brewed coffee
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Carefully stir in the hot coffee until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
- For the frosting, heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until just boiling. Pour over the chopped dark chocolate and let sit for a minute. Stir until smooth and stir in powdered sugar.
- Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting on top and around the sides.
