- 1 box Brownie mix
- 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large Eggs
- 1/2 cup Sour cream
- 1/2 cup Hot coffee or water
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 cups Powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Milk (or as needed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a cupcake pan with liners.
- Mix the brownie mix, all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and baking powder in a large bowl.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, sour cream, and hot coffee (or water) to the dry ingredients. Mix until everything is combined and smooth.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting them.
- Beat the softened butter in a bowl for the chocolate buttercream until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread or pipe the buttercream on top of the cooled cupcakes.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing the batter.
