Description

Delightful lime bars with a zesty flavor and creamy texture, balancing sweetness and tartness for a refreshing dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch pan.
  2. Mix together flour and powdered sugar. Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  4. Whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, lime juice, lime zest, and baking powder until well combined.
  5. Pour this mixture over the baked crust.
  6. Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until set.
  7. Allow to cool, then dust with powdered sugar before slicing into bars.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh limes instead of bottled lime juice. Don’t overbake for a perfect texture.
