Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking sheet (typically 18×13 inches).
- Whisk together flour, sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Melt 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then stir in the water and bring to a boil. Pour the hot mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Melt 1/2 cup butter for the frosting and mix in 1/2 cup cocoa powder. Stir in powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
- Let it set for a few minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
